El Mirador del Castillo, Mojacar, Almeria
The villa was built on the ruins of the 16th century castle (no longer visible). The location is unique, strategically positioned to overlook the surrounding villages, the beach and the port of Garrucha. Pirates prowled the coast as late as the early 1900s. The panoramic views from every room are now the property of renters of the whole house or its individual rooms. The adjoining café bar is quiet and cosy. Its terrace, free of traffic, is famous for its tranquility, sunrises and sunsets. It is run by Cecilio, the resident manager. It is a valued convenience for guests in the villa.
El Mirador del Castillo can sleep up to 10 people in five double rooms. It is prestigious address for special events as well as leisurely holidays. The garden and various salons have been the scene of concerts, lectures and workshops over the years. It is a gracious setting for intimate, informal or elegant weddings.
The principle salon measures 60 m2. It has high ceilings and a fireplace. A solarium, basic kitchen and shower room are attached. It was the piano studio of the original owner in the 1960s. Since then it has been used for many events, from classical music and jazz concerts, theater, private cocktail parties and family meals. It opens directly to the garden and central pool.
The Andalucian garden surrounding the swimming pool is comfortable during the hottest summer days. The date palm, olive and pepper trees and flowering plants give shade and color. For a quiet read, a game of cards, a siesta, a romantic confidence with a special companion, choose your spot. There are many. The arcade on the ground floor overlooking the sea has been the site of many paellas (consult Cecilio) and informal meals. The terraces outside the sleeping rooms on the upper floor are a refuge for musing or private sunbathing
The rooms have separate, individual entrances leading to the secluded pool and garden, with access to the charming streets and squares of Mojacar Pueblo through a private gate in the garden wall. A family or group of friends can be together or move around independently. Their choice. For a night out on the walking streets of the old village, head for the green door. No need to move the car.
