From Almeria, take the A7 autoroute, direction Murcia, and turn off at Los Gallardos (exit 520). Follow the directions to Turre and Mojacar. After Turre, continue to the roundabout on the outskirts of Mojacar’s old village. Signs point to the parking at the back of the village; ignore them. At the next roundabout, (Hotel Simon is visible straight ahead) turn right. Continue up the winding road to the fork with the bar el cafetin de la candela in the center. Keep el cafetin de la candela on your right and go uphill 50 meters. You will find yourself in Mojacar’s main square, the Plaza Nueva.

El Mirador del Castillo from belowOn entering the Plaza Nueva, Bar La Pucinela and La Ermita are on your left, followed immediately by a yellow post box and a narrow road (Cuesta del Castillo). Turn left up this road and continue some 100m to the top. Stop in the small square with a wide stairway.

El Mirador del Castillo is up the steps. To avoid the steps , walk along the narrow street to the left of the stairs, Calle Tico Medina, and up the ramp. You have arrived!

From Alicante/Murcia, take the A7 autoroute towards Almeria and turn off at Los Gallardos (exit 525). Follow the signs to Turre and Mojacar. On reaching the outskirts of Turre, turn left towards Mojacar. Go straight through the first roundabout, ignoring the back road to the parking area. Continue as described above

Parking

Free parking: There are some free parking spots at the base of the steps but they are often fully occupied, especially in peak season. It is possible to double-park temporarily to load/unload luggage. There is plenty of public parking below the village and a lift to bring you up to the level of the main square (Plaza Nueva). Once settled into El Mirador del Castillo you are unlikely to need your car again. There are many shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance and a good local bus service to the beach (parking along the beach is also difficult during the summer).

Parking for El Mirador del CastilloPaid parking: There is enclosed parking available close to El Mirador del Castillo. The entrance is on the left as you drive up the Cuesta del Castillo from Plaza Nueva (key from reception). Reservation is advised because places are limited. The cost is 10 euros per day.
